Yesterday the Husband ran his first race! And survived! Of course I took pictures.
He did unbelievably well and I am very proud that asthma boy ran 3.5 miles and survived to tell the tale.
Stats:
- 5th place in his division (30-34 year-olds)
- 37th out of all 145 racers
- He completed the race in 29 minutes and 23 seconds. That’s about an 8:24(ish) mile. That is crazy.
Did I mention the boy had asthma?
Edited to add: Photos can be found at flickr.

One sister married, one to go.
Shana got married! It was beautiful, she was beautiful, and I think it was probably one of the best weddings I’ve attended and I don’t think I’ve ever quite danced that much. Even at ballroom competitions!
Now I have a brother. I’ve always wanted a brother. Someone to torment, laugh at, and um…what do you do with a brother? Burn his underwear? Cut his hair while he sleeps? Talk baseball?
I have some photos that were sent to me from Aunt Jane and Uncle Tom and then I few of mine (and my sister’s when I made her use my camera). As I get more, I’ll add a post with new shots.
All photos are found here…
Over Memorial Day weekend the Husband and I packed up and headed north to Maine for my cousin Ben’s wedding. The boy I remembered most as being about ten-years old was old enough for the old ball and chain. Poor kid. Wait, poor me. I feel old!
The wedding was beautiful and made even more memorable by my sister yelling, “Mazel tov!” in the nice Catholic Church. The reception was very nice and the food was excellent. I do admit, however, that the DJs were a bit frightening with their…boistrous attitude and foam cowboy hats.
After the wedding and during the next day we were able to hang out with everyone. I think seeing everyone was the best part. Since mom died I really haven’t seen much family, except during Uncle Irv’s funural at the beginning of the year. It’s mostly been my fault. I’m not really one to contact people (I know, you are shocked!) and I also don’t have much that I think is interesting going on in my life so I never email. Now that last statement is scary when you take into account that I have a blog (actually about 7 of them). What the heck do I write about? Other than knitting that is.
Anyway.
So we spent a lot of time with my side of the family. My little second cousin or cousin twice removed or whatever that convention is set up baseball teams for a game we never played. One team was led by an ex-football player, the other by his 4-year old brother. The first team had two or three former baseball players, the latter had the moms, grandfathers, and non-athletes. He was on the first team. That is one smart 7-year old.
I didn’t bring my camera for various reasons so all the photos are from the kindness of all the family who brought their cameras. All photos can be found on my flickr account.
I owe about 4 more days for the Kaua’i trip about 4 months after the fact. Instead of waiting to do post about it, I will work on it in the background and continue with riveting updates about our lives. I will let you know when the Kaua’i entries are posted.
I’m also planning on reverting to fake names and nicknames here unless someone expresses otherwise. Everything will be from my point of view because the Husband will never, ever update. He’s predictable that way. If you do not like what I call you, please send me an alternative.
A couple weekends back I attened the Sister-in-law’s bridal shower. I helped the maid-of-honor (okay, it’s really matron-of-honor but it makes her sound old and she’s younger than me) set it up. Nothing exploded, imploded, or collapsed so it was a good day! No one killed each other so that would be a bonus.
I’ve set up a set at flicker so take a look at all the shots.
