Day 1: Wandering San Francisco

I finally have completed the first day of San Francisco pictures which is no mean feet considering the hundreds of photos I got. We decided to take it easy the first day and wander the city so we took a bus to Market Street and began walking. We walked to the end of Market Street and turned up to Fisherman’s Warf where we finished the morning. Then, we wandered over to Ghirardelli Square and up a very large hill to see the crookedest street in the world (or whatever). We walked down the street and watched as the cars lined up to weave their way down. After a rest, we walked towards the Bed and Breakfast stopping in Japan town. We walked too much and it was too hot, but it was fun.

I’m taking a cake decorating class and I’ve had my second session. Last night was our first chance to decorate a cake. It’s not the best cake and I have tons of room for improvement, but I’m happy with it. More or less. Of course I photographed it. I mean, I’m behind on hundreds of photos from San Francisco, Halloween, the Husband’s last race, and the Godson’s tournament, but by god I have uploaded my cake photos. Someday I will get the rest done.

I received a zoom lens for my birthday, and let me tell you, it is unbelievable. I spent a day wandering the town where I work and taking photos with the lens to get a handle on how it works.

Here is the top of a flag pole. It’s regular size and I’m standing on the ground.

The college where I work is building a new, state-of-the-art music hall. This is the construction at the lowest setting (which I can’t remember but think may be at 300)

Here it is at the highest zoom (700). That’s the same guy in the previous photo.

Here is grass. From a fully standing position. Did I mention I love this lens?

Finally, just a lucky shot I got in passing and probably one of my favorites of all time.

I brough the lens with me to San Francisco and will post those in the next few weeks. I had a 4GB card and went crazy with photos. I’m still going through the first day of photos which I think is around 1GB all on its own.

Sorry, I’ve been very bad keeping this place up to date and, because of this, now have a backlog of stuff. The first is about the Husband. He ran a race sometime mid-August and placed third in his division!

He is now training for his first 6 mile run in October and is runing 6 1/2 miles almost every day. It is crazy, but there you have it. The boy is insane.
